Galaxy S5 roundup: purchaser's information 2014
Putting down roots in Berlin after six years of touring is a serious step for Kris Carlon,
who has spent more time living out of a tent lately than sitting at a desk. Kris comes to the AndroidPIT Editorial Team via a lengthy period spent writing on art and culture in Australia and other places he has lived. He joined the Android community while resurfacing in civilization back in 2010 and has never looked back, using technology to replace his actual presence in other people's lives ever since.

We also went head to head with some of the major Galaxy S5 features. Including the Galaxy S5's S Health application, heart rate monitor, finger scanner, 4K video, selective focus and super-fast auto focus, download booster and new UI features, you can see the new TouchWiz in pictures or in the following video walkthrough of the S5 software.

Galaxy S5 power saving mode
We put both the Galaxy S5's and HTC One M8's power saving modes head to head in a quick comparison. We haven't had enough time to fully compare the actual battery life extension they provide yet, but I've pegged the S5's power saving mode as an early winner.

Galaxy S5 vs Galaxy S3
This is, for me, the real upgrade question. Many Samsung fans skipped the Galaxy S4 due to its similarity to the Galaxy S3. So making the jump to the S5 is the real choice for many. The S4 may be much like the S3 and the S5 may be much like the S4, but the S5 is a huge improvement on the S3.

If you upgraded to the Galaxy S4 and are now stuck with the same riddle about whether or not it's worth it to go for the Galaxy S5, here's a quick comparison between the S4 and S5 to help lay your questions to rest. Sure, the improvement may not be huge, but there are enough differences to make it worth serious consideration.

As soon as the specs were known we put up a comparison between the Galaxy S5 and its major competitors. Then recently we posted another specs comparison between some new devices on the horizon and the best from Samsung. Don't forget the ''perfect smartphone'' OnePlus one is coming later this month and there's still no word on the final specs of the LG G3, but it's good to know your options.

There's a pretty good chance you'll be able to pick up the Galaxy S5 with an included Gear 2 or Gear Fit when you sign up for a two-year contract, and there's plenty of trade-in offers for the S5 too. But US carriers are also bundling a ton of premium app subscriptions with the Galaxy S5 to further sweeten the deal. There's also a few cool things about the S5 you may not have know before.
