First take a look at the Huawei Ascend P7 launching May 7 2014

Placing down roots in Berlin after six years of touring is a major step for Kris Carlon, who has spent more time residing out of a tent these days than sitting at a desk.

Kris comes to the AndroidPIT Editorial Team via a lengthy period spent writing on art and culture in Australia and other places he has lived. He joined the Android community while resurfacing in civilization back in 2010 and has never looked back, using technology to replace his actual presence in other people's lives ever since.

New images of the Huawei Ascend P7 have just leaked from the Chinese certification body Tenaa. The images we've seen leaked from Tenaa previously have proven to be legitimate, so these images are very likely what the Ascend P7 will look like when it arrives at a special launch event to be held in Paris on May 7.

The images show a design not far removed from the original Ascend P6, which made a bit of a splash despite only housing mid-range specs and having a few issues like excessive heating when the processor was put under strain. Still, the P6 was a breath of fresh air for Android and the P7 could freshen up that nice debut with a bit more substance.

Rumors of the P7's specs have been quiet for a long while now, but we shared a leaked specs sheet way back in December last year. We've no reason to believe anything much has changed since then, especially considering the specs sheet claimed an April launch for the P7 and here we are. Those specs include a 5-inch Full HD TFT LCD display, quad-core HiSilicon processor at 1.6 GHz (Huawei's own processor), 2 GB of RAM and 16 GB internal memory with microSD expansion. We're also expecting a 13 MP camera and 8 MP selfie cam, Android 4.4 and version 2.0 of Huawei's Emotion UI all backed up by a 2,460 mAh battery.

What do you think of the Ascend P7? How do you think Huawei's new offering will fare towards its mid-vary competition?
