schedule appointments online With Yourself to Assess

Schedule a Recurring Appointment With Yourself to Assess Your Finances
Few among us actually enjoy dealing with the financial paperwork and self-assessment of managing our money. Finance blog Five Cent Nickel suggests treating your money like you would the doctor or dentist: keep a recurring appointment with yourself.
We're used to setting up regular appointments with people we appreciate but don't necessarily enjoy seeing. While our finances may not be the most fun thing to deal with, you can use the same strategy on yourself:
Make an appointment with yourself — and keep it. Just as you'd make an appointment with a doctor or a mechanic, schedule a regular time to review your accounts and pay your bills. I recommend blocking out an hour on Saturday or Sunday morning. Keep the appointment every week. Treat it as a priority.
On the first Monday of each month, I check balances and pay bills. I also enter data into Quicken (I like to do this by hand), which allows me to generate financial statements. Most importantly, I review my spending to be sure it hasn't strayed too far out of budget.
As the site points out, this appointment isn't just about paying bills, but about reviewing your spending habits and assessing future changes. We can all veer off course if we're not careful. Unlike our medical or mechanical lives, our financial lives don't usually have an expert who will remind us what needs to be done. We have to do it for ourselves.

Use A part of Your Trip to Refocus and Plan Your Funds 2014

Use Part of Your Vacation to Refocus and Plan Your Finances

Use A part of Your Trip to Refocus and Plan Your Funds 2014

Getting your financial situation under management isn't a simple task. It is likely to be a bit easier if you happen to do some of your financial planning whilst you're taking a break out of your regular routine. Say, whereas on vacation.

No one likes the idea of spending their leisure time on productive things (and if you do, you're probably not doing leisure right), much less on something as soul-sucking as money planning. As personal finance blog Money Ning points out, though, a small portion of your vacation may be the best time to figure out your next financial steps:

While you're on vacation, decide to work on your finances, your fitness, or whatever goal you've been avoiding. Vacation days are filled with leisure, so you don't have all the responsibilities of day-to-day life to eat up your time. Commit a small amount of time each day towards the goal, and make it happen. On the last day of your vacation, think about how you'll integrate your newly found routine into your normal life.

As the site points out, this can also work with other habits you're trying to get into. Beginning a workout routine on vacation can be even better, not just because you get a new habit started while you're out of step with your old ones, but because working out will generally make you feel better on your vacation anyway.
