Android: Many Android smartphones come with shortcuts to settings when you pull down the notifications bar, but if you want more control over that, Notification Toggle might be just right to supercharge your notification shade.

The app is basically a quick launcher with access to common phone settings as well as apps installed on your device. It gives you two lines of icons in the notification shade. You can choose the toggles and apps you want and set them to appear on the line of your choice. Settings include Wi-Fi (networks, advanced, tethering), Bluetooth (settings, visibility, tethering), connectivity, sound, music playback, display, GPS, camera, alarm and much more.

Notification Toggle is also customizable in appearance, letting you change the toggle order of the apps, set the icons and colors, and even download alternative icons.

The premium version has shortcuts within apps, like a direct dial for a contact, a particular Dropbox folder, your music player and more, depending on the apps you have installed.

Google Expands Android's Built-In App Scanning Safety 2014

Android: Right now, Google announced that it is increasing its Verify Apps system to continually scan all apps put in on a telephone to determine in the event that they're malicious or harmful.

Previously, the Verify Apps system would only kick in if you installed an app from outside the Play Store, and it would only scan an app as its being installed. However, not only can apps change their behavior once they have permission to run, as we've learned recently, you can find crap software on the Play Store too.

The new system is rolling out via Play Services, so any device running higher than Android 2.3 should benefit. If an app is scanned and found to be potentially harmful, you'll receive a warning to either block installation or remove it from your system. AppChooser Cleans and Customizes Android's "Share" Menu

Android's universal share menu is awesome, but it can get really cluttered really quickly. AppChooser lets you customize and clean up the share menu to your heart's desire.

After installing AppChooser, the next time you click that Share button, you'll get the option to use AppChooser or the Android System. Choose AppChooser. You'll get a very similar-looking share list, only you can reorder the items by frequency, history, or reverse alphabetical. You can also long-press on any app to hide it for good. You can even share to multiple apps by pressing the arrow in the top-right corner.

Note that some apps have their own Share menu separate from Android's, so AppChooser can't replace those—however, it'll show up as an option in those lists (often at the top), so on those occasions you can usually tap it for quick access to your shorter, custom list.

Overall, AppChooser is extremely simple to use, and a great replacement for the default Share menu when it gets out of control. It's very similar to the older and slightly less powerful Andmade Share, which we've featured before. Hit the link below to give it a try.
