RealPlayer media storage and player service 2014
RealNetworks has introduced their global launch of RealPlayer Cloud. RealPlayer Cloud already has half of one million customers in Canada and the United States, but starting February 24th, the rest of the world can get in on the self proclaimed “Dropbox for videos.”

RealPlayer Cloud touts a thorough list of compatible OSs, TVs and web browsers, with their Android app being one of the first promoted non-Google apps to throw media to the Chromecast. It supports all popular video formats and their SurePlay technology encodes video on the server-side to ensure it fits your device type, screen size, storage space and available bandwidth. You can get started with 2GB of free RealPlayer Cloud space on their website. Additional storage starts at $5/month, or use their new “Refer-a-Friend” program to get you and your friend an additional 1GB of free storage.
Do you think that the lack of global availability for the Chromecast will prevent global success for RealPlayer Cloud? What service(s) are you using already to store, view and share your videos? To grab the app for your self, be sure to head on over to Google Play.
